Here are nine examples of hiking equipment that can be used for multiple purposes:
1. Smart Phone: Includes a cell phone, camera, GPS, music/audiobook player, recording device, and journal.

2. Pot: For those who are going stoveless, it can be used as a bowl, cup, washing machine, and rehydrating container.

3. Condom: Johnny’s older bag. In addition to the apparent, connies can be used as an emergency water holder (up to 2 litres) in the event that one of your bottles leaks.

4. Duct tape: Instead of adhesive strips or moleskin, duct tape might be utilised. It’s ideal for gear maintenance.

5. Trekking Poles: These can be used to keep lightweight tents and tarps in place. When crossing fast-flowing rivers, greater stability is beneficial. Tester for mud, snow, and water thickness. If you’re thinking of auditioning for a role in Pirates of the Caribbean 37, this is a great way to practise sword fighting.

6. Backpack: Sleeping with your backpack between your toes allows you to use a 3/4-length sleeping mat rather than a full-length sleeping mat. It’s not as unpleasant as it appears. It’s also helpful for you, as raising your toes after a hard day on the trail helps to minimise swelling in the lower extremities.

7. Tent Peg: In addition to its basic function, stricter kind barrels (such as snow stakes) can be used to dig black holes instead of a potty trowel.

In wet conditions, a kilt or rain skirt serves as a makeshift door for your tarp and a floor cloth to sit on during breaks. Intangibly, I believe they contribute to the development of a sense of community among chafe patients and commando aficionados.

Closed cell foam types are excellent for stretching and sitting on during breaks. They’re also useful if you have a strong desire to slide down a waterfall.
