How to Develop the Habit of Getting Up Early — Just Life Trends
Many people appear to be designed to sleep late, but there are numerous benefits to getting up early. You’ll never have to worry about missing work again. You have some time before everyone else gets up to get things done. Perhaps this will be that elusive “me” time.
Is it possible to become an early riser if you’ve always been a night owl? Yes, of course! This will take some time and effort; breaking a routine is difficult. It’s even more difficult to change habits that you’ve had for a long time, yet we humans are adaptive creatures. You can always learn something new.
Here’s a tried-and-true method for swiftly altering your sleep pattern:
1. Determine how much sleep you actually require. Everyone requires a different number of hours to feel their best. Let’s pretend you require seven hours of uninterrupted sleep for this scenario.
2. What time would you like to wake up each day? What hour would you get up every morning in your ideal world? Perhaps you’d want to get up at 5:00 a.m. to go for a run or to practise your instrument.
3. Decide when you want to go to bed. Make the calculations. In our case, you’d have to be sleeping by 10:00 p.m.
4. Adhere to the timetable. You’ll need to be strong until you’ve established a habit of working your new hours. Using our scenario, you’d want to be in bed by 10:00 p.m. regardless of the circumstances. If you’re used to going to bed at 2:00 a.m., you’ll most likely be lying in bed for quite some time, at least at first. You may also count on the alarm not being a pleasant experience.
5. There will be no naps. If you typically take naps, they’re fine. But don’t start incorporating naps into your new routine! Otherwise, you might not be exhausted when you go to bed at your new time.
6. Optional: Ignore anything above. Many people have found that sticking to the following simple strategy works best: go to bed when you’re tired, but always get up at the new wake-up time. At the very least, you won’t spend hours in bed attempting to fall asleep.
Keep going, no matter which approach you choose! You’ll be a different person in a week, despite the fact that it will be difficult.
